iphone

blog-2006-12-08
The rumor is that Apple Computer will release the cell-phone named "iPhone" next January. It seems "almost certain".
However, there is special market that is a "Carrier-driven market" (Sorry, I don't know exactly word in English) in Japanese cell-phone market. This means that each carrier has special own cell-phone hardware. So I can only buy a cell-phone that contracted carrier sells.
I think that this market structure is accelerating technical innovation of the cell-phone.
However each carrier develops proprietary technology. Also function of the cell-phone is pretty cutting-edge. But on another front, the Blue-tooth cell-phones are really few. (I have never used Blue-tooth function of my iMac.)

There are big 3 carriers (cell-phone operators) in Japan as of 2006 (excluded OKINAWA area and PHS).
I've been using cell-phone of NTT DoCoMo. This contract is by my company. (Company pays cell-phone fee)
However, the rumors are that the iPhone will be reselled by SOFTBANK. This means I can not buy iPhone.

I really don't like this Japanese cell-phone's market structure.
(This topic was a little hard to translating for me)

parallels pb2

10042006
Parallels Public beta2 has been released. The some problems (Networking problems , CD image problems and Improvement of speed and stability) seem to be solved in this version.

The Parallels does not require reboot process when it starts up windows so the Parallels is better than Boot Camp. Moreover, it uses the Virtualization Technology of the Intel VT-x so the speed seems to be also fast like native.
From the above-mentioned, I guess the Leopard must include the Virtualization Technology based Boot Camp function like a Classic Environment.

BTW my iMac is "PowerPC G5 inside" so I was left out in the cold. (T_T)

mac do windows,too

0005
Apple computer released Boot champ public beta at April 5, 2006.
I had no chance to buy Mac for my job because I use only Windows in my office work up to now. But I'm glad to get a chance to buy Mac, after this function. The only worry is point that the software vender who is developing Mac OS X and Windows version might make only Windows version.

On the other hand, Parallels Workstation 2.1 for Mac OS X public beta has been released. I cannot overlook this one.
The Parallels Workstation 2.1 uses Intel VT-x. The reason for "Virtualization" is that it is a technology that should be paid attention.

origami

0004
The Origami project was announced today from Microsoft.
The Origami means a paper folding in Japanese. I think Microsoft considered that most important customer is Japanese so they decided the name of this project to Origami. (I heard the idea of other name was Haiku. The haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables.) I was awfully disappointed.

The "Origami" is ...
  • It's too big for mobile music player.
  • It's too small for mobile PC with keyboard.
  • And it's too expensive.
Who buys such a halfway gadget ?
We have SONY VAIO (especially Type T). It's small and light enough. Also we have SONY PSP too.
I wonder why Microsoft concentrate on this kind of gadget.
