say goodbye to simmons

blog-2008-03-30
I could not bear to be parted from the musical instrument I purchased. Accordingly, I became to a collectomania of the musical instruments. Of course, I have no chance to play the all musical instruments I have. It's not a good situation for musical instruments, also large space is needed for storage.

Recently, I played the "V-Drums" as test in music store, by recommending the friend of my amateur band. The V-Drums is a electric drum manufactured by the Roland and the friend who recommends this to me is Roland's employee. Apart from that, the V-Drums is the most amazing electric drum set I have performed! I feel this is a really new generation percussion musical instrument.

Also the V-Drums has some lineups from beginner use to professional use. I decided to purchase the TD-20 on investigation. The TD-20 is a flagship model of the V-Drums series, and also it's very expensive. However it can't be replaced for amazing playability! For that reason, I determined that I sell the unused musical instruments.
The first bargain is the SIMMONS SDS9. The SIMMONS is a famous electric drum that dominated the 80's pop music scene. The SDS9 is the 2nd generation of the digital drum set for professional use. Also it was very expensive musical instruments more than the V-Drums at that time. I "dug up" the SDS9 from deep part of storage room yesterday. After cleanup, I tested the function of it. The SDS9 is still working very fine.

And, I sold the SDS9 to the used musical instrument store yesterday. It seems to sell expensively as for the desire! However, I was reluctant to part from the SDS9, I made the photo album of it.

I just called to say...

blog-2007-06-27
I'm in a band with my old friend in school days. It's called THE B-SIDE BAND. Also our band is an amateur band, but we are proud of the songs and groove. (All songs are original)
I used to play a drums in a band founded with friend. I was not playing the drum after I took a job. However the alumni association after an interval of 18 years brought me back to the drummer. Of course, my drums-playing prowess was like a beginner.
We stepped up efforts in spare moments from our work for about 3 years. As a result, we could make 3 times live performance in last year. And this year, we tried audition of jazz festival. At last, we passed the audition!

This jazz festival is called JOHZENJI STREET JAZZ FESTIVAL IN SENDAI. SENDAI is a one of the famous city in the Tohoku district in Japan. JOZENJI is a name of the street where located in the main stage of the Jazz fastival. And the name was derived from the name of the temple in the Edo period. And this Jazz festival is music festival with 17 years history.

It will be held from September 8th to the 9th, and we will be performed on September 8th. We have about 2 month till the Jazz festival. However it's not so enough time for working adult.
Hang in there!

software development and music

blog-2006-10-02
In my case, there are a lot of people who develop excellent software in the person who likes music or who plays music.
I heard Alan Kay who is a great software developer whom I respect is a Jazz player.
Actually, I seem the development of software looks like music.
  • It is not a physical object.
  • It follow the sort of mathematical theory.
  • It can be described in a some kind of document.
  • It changes as the seconds tick away.
  • It is important about user experience.
  • It needs some tension occasionally.
  • It exists depending on creator's sense.
  • It requires a some kind of skill and training.
  • etc...
I'm not only a "Sunday Xcode programmer" but also a musician.
I love not only the iMacG5 but also music !
I had stopped the amateur rock band live performance since university student. However, I restarted the amateur rock band after an interval of ?? years in the wake of alumni association.

I make a belated attempt to add a photo album of the "Debut live on 17th Sep. 2006" of my amateur rock band to my band website, because it was so busy with development and announcement of my RapidWeaver plugins. Of course, it's made by my new PostcardViewer plugin !

P.S.
BTW, my band website includes the discussion board which made by alpha version of the RapidWeaverBBS. Unfortunately, this discussion board only allows Japanese language because we had a lot of spam from foreign countries. (This function is depending on a parameter of the RapidWeaverBBS.)
